TIME TO REMEMBER THE MISSING SOLDIER

A COLLABORATION OF CRAFTSMEN

World-renowned British micro-artists Willard Wigan MBE, Worlds best Micro Engraver Graham Short and Clockmaker Tom Powell of Osberg & Martin have collaborated for the first time ever to create a one-off commemoration sculpture.

This iconic collaboration of these amazing artists represents their small yet powerful tribute to all those that died in the Great War. When you consider that just one life and one bullet is truly microscopic when compared to the millions of lives lost and bullets fired during this period. Time to Remember the Missing Soldier captures this completely.

Time to Remember the Missing Soldier incorporates a microscopic detailed handmade sculpture of a soldier, by Willard Wigan, standing upon the tip of a decommissioned First World War Lee Enfield 303 bullet.

The tip of this bullet is hand engraved by Graham Short with the words from the third and fourth stanzas of the famous poem by Laurence Binyon. These words have been claimed as a tribute to all casualties of war, regardless of allegiance, and are known as the Ode to Remembrance.

The sculpture and microscope are mounted within a beautiful handmade clock by British clockmaker Tom Powell of Osberg & Martin. The hands of the clock are set at 11 o’clock, representing the time that World War One ceased.

Willard’s brother Trevor, has contributed to this piece with a poignant poem written exclusively for this collaboration.

The sculpture was completed in November 2018 to commemorate the 100-year end of the First World War.
