Daniel the tiniest guide dog puppy in the world

I’m thrilled to have sculpted the tiniest guide dog puppy in the world in support of this year’s Guide Dogs Appeal, helping raise funds and awareness for those with sight loss. This sculpture is the size of a full stop in a newspaper, mounted within the eye of a tiny sewing needle. It represents all those that feel unseen, as I did for many years of my life. It is a message, “just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it isn’t there”. Formed from a piece of broken dinner plate, painted with my eyelash, I worked 16 hours a day over a 2-month period, using gaps between my heartbeat to create him. Daniel is named after a fundraiser I met in Birmingham, inspiring me to partner with Guide Dogs and create a tiny micro sculpture as a homage to all their hard work and shine a light onto this amazing charity.

The real Daniel

A real-life guide dog puppy has been named in honour of Daniel and will hopefully go on to be as amazing as his name sake and grow up to change the life of someone currently living with sight loss.

How you can get involved in this years appeal

The annual Guide Dogs Appeal takes place every October on the anniversary of the first four UK guide dog partnerships back in 1931.  Since last year's Guide Dogs Appeal, around 100,000 more people in the UK have been told they will lose their sight.
